Cooperation with Austrian Software Company

Tecco is a software engineering company which develops and produces a middelware called CORSO. CORSO (Coordinated Shared Objects) is a patented technology for the management of distributed applications in heterogenous IT environments. It offers maximum scalability and flexibility by allowing applications to communicate with one another via common „spaces“ (virtual forums for data and processes). Thus CORSO brings together distributed machines in a peer-to-peer network, coordinated by a likewise (single-node or multi-node) distributed „virtual server“. IBM, in a „due diligence“ study, estimated as 36 months that lead over comparable technologies such as Sun's Java-Spaces and IBM's own T-Spaces.

A graduate student of the computer architecture group has been send to Austria to run the first tests using ATOLL with Corso. This aimed at bringing together both systems and showing that simply the usage of other hardware could speed up Corso. Due to the very generic ATOLL programming library 'PALMS' Coke, the Corso coordination kernel, has been seemlessly adopted within one week in order to run communication between two nodes. In end-to-end-communication this created a performance which is up to 3.5 times faster than regular 100MBit Ethernet.

We are pleased to announce that we will continue cooperatoin with tecco.
