Tutorial on "Interconnect Architectures in Practice" at ISC2005

Prof. Dr. U. Bruening organises the ISC2005 Tutorial on "Interconnect Architectures in Practice". The turorial will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at the "Print Media Academy", Heidelberg.

Interconnect architectures are a very important constituent of high performance computing. The tutorial will give an introduction of the theory, architecture and future trends of state of the art interconnect networks and network interfaces. Well known experts will explain new and innovative features of communication, like Advanced Switching's status based flow control and 10GEthernet's protocol off load engines.

Talks of the most popular interconnect vendors will give an overview of their products and performance.

The tutorial will also give practical guidance on how to build and configure a Linux cluster targeted for HPC users. For the first time, the participants will get the chance to install, configure and benchmark the interconnects from various vendors (Myrinet, Infiniband, QsNet, 10GE, etc.) in the 'hands-on' experience part of the tutorial. Results of this part will be presented at the end of the tutorial.

This tutorial has been made possible with friendly support from HP & Intel.
