The HTX3-Board – A universal HTX test platform


The HTX-Board provides a comfortable and efficient way to evaluate user specific devices connected to the Hypertransport 3 connector standardized under the name HTX3-Connector™. The HTX3-Board with the 8bit wide high speed serial tranceiver based HTX Interface can be plugged to any AMD Opteron™ processor node with HTX. The board employs three Virtex 5 FPGAs to provide enough ressources to implement both the HT3-Core and user application modules. To support the high link frequencies of HT3 serial tranceiver (GTP) blocks are used to implement the HyperTransport links. Using these links the HT3 board is capable of providing a bidirectional IO bandwidth of up to 6.4GByte/s. The board offers USB2.0, two CX4 connectore and an SODIMM socket for memory extensions.

The HTX-Board combines the following items: a Hypertransport HTX connector, one Xilinx Virtex5 LX110T FPGA and two Xilinx Virtex5 LX50T FPGAs, several high speed serial links (GTPs) which are connected to the CX4 connectors, an SODIMM socket, non volatile flash memory and a USB2.0 port.

The FPGA can be configured via JTAG, through USB or by flash memory.

Optionally, an HTX-Extender board with test pins for LSA connection is available. The HTX-Board can also be used as a stand-alone FPGA design testbed. A complete PowerPC computer system can be programmed into the FPGA.
